Tottenham Hotspur star Rodrigo Bentancur attracting interest from Manchester United
Manchester United are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur and Uruguay star Rodrigo Bentancur, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Liverpool and European champions Real Madrid are also eyeing the 25-year-old. Thus, the Old Trafford side will have to fend off Jurgen Klopp’s team and Los Blancos for the midfielder.
The Manchester-based club are at the moment monitoring Bentancur. However, the Uruguayan has been in fine form at the North London side and they will not let him for less than €60 million.
Spurs signed the 25-year-old in the January window of 2022 from Juventus. Since then, he has been a pivotal player for Antonio Conte’s team.
In the current campaign, the midfielder has come clutch in big moments for Tottenham. He has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the North London side this season in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
Liverpool’s engine room has suffered its fair share of injuries in this term. On the other hand, Madrid’s midfield has a lot of prospects already, with the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.
Bentancur also starred for Uruguay at the 2022 World Cup. He featured in every match for La Celeste in Qatar. However, Diego Alonso’s team failed to make it out of the group stages.
United signed Christian Erik in the recent transfer window. The Denmark international has been playing in the number eight position for Erik ten Hag.
The 30-year-old has been one of the surprise packages of the current campaign, becoming a key member for the Dutch manager. However, in recent fixtures, he has looked a little fatigued.

But the Red Devils seemingly lack the quality on the bench to rotate players. However, someone like Bentancur has the ability to add strength in depth to our squad. However, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will let him join the Old Trafford side in the coming future.
