Atletico Madrid and Portugal star Joao Felix focused on World Cup amidst links to Manchester United
Portugal star Joao Felix is focused on the World Cup amidst talks of an exit from Atletico Madrid and links to Manchester United. The 23-year-old is only thinking about winning the prestigious trophy in Qatar.
The Red Devils have been associated with signing the forward in the January transfer window. However, for now, he has shot down any talks of him leaving Los Rojiblancos.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Felix was coy about any suggestions on his future. However, the Portugal international revealed he would think about it after the 2022 World Cup.

“I’m focused 100 per cent on the World Cup and having a great World Cup. We are thinking of having a great tournament and on the Portuguese. I will talk about Atletico when the World Cup is over.”
The 23-year-old joined Atletico in the summer of 2019 from SL Benfica after an impressive debut campaign in the Primeira Liga. However, the forward has failed to perform consistently in the Spanish capital.
Many fans have had high expectations from Felix. Unfortunately, the youngster has been unable to fulfil them during his time at the Madrid-based club.
Subsequently, the 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order in Diego Simeone’s plans. In the current campaign, the forward has started just eight games for Los Rojiblancos in all competitions.
However, while he has struggled at Atletico, Felix is thriving under Fernando Santos in Qatar. The 23-year-old has been pivotal for his nation so far at the 2022 World Cup. Portugal have made it to the quarter-finals, where they will face Morocco.
With Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, United have lost an attacking option. As a result, we are left with Anthony Martial as the only natural striker in the squad.
