Manchester United monitoring 18-year-old Russia forward Sergey Pinyaev of KS Samara

KS Samara forward and Russia international Sergey Pinyaev is being monitored by Manchester United, according to Manchester Evening News.

Born in November 2004, the 18-year-old is considered one of the most exciting prospects in his nation. The forward became the youngest player to make his debut for the Sbornaya last month.

Pinyaev played his first minutes for the Russian national team, starting against Tajikistan in a friendly that ended 0-0. The youngster also came on as a substitute against Uzbekistan for his second appearance.

The 18-year-old’s current contract with KS Samara ends in the summer of 2025. He has made 15 appearances for the Premier Liga outfit in the 2022/23 campaign in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

United are tracking Pinyaev’s progress at the moment. The 18-year-old had a trial at the Old Trafford side before the pandemic. He spent a few months in Manchester and got to know the staff.

Speaking to sports.ru (h/t MEN), the youngster’s current manager Igor Osinkin is delighted for him. However, the KS Samara head coach admits the Russian forward has a long way to go.

“The fact that Manchester is watching him is controlled by his progress — which is good. These are additional incentives for him. But we must honestly admit that much more work needs to be done to reach the level of such a club.”

United’s current forward line evidently needs reinforcements after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. We are left with just one natural striking option in Anthony Martial and he has had consistent fitness issues in the current campaign.

Marcus Rashford has been preferred as the number nine this season in the absence of the former AS Monaco star. While the England international has done well, he leaves a lot to be desired in front of goal.

Pinyaev has mostly played on the left wing for KS Samara. Even though the 18-year-old has shown a lot of potential, the Red Devils should focus on other targets for the time being. Maybe, further down the line, the Old Trafford side could make a move for the Russian.
