David Ornstein believes England star Marcus Rashford will sign new contract at Manchester United

Football Correspondent for The Athletic, David Ornstein, believes England star Marcus Rashford will sign a new contract at Manchester United. He does not envision him playing for another club in the Premier League.

The Old Trafford side’s academy graduate’s existing deal expires at the end of the 2022/23 season (transfermarkt). However, the forward is yet to put pen to paper and extend his stay with the Red Devils.

Speaking on Vibe with Five on YouTube (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ornstein revealed that he would be surprised to see Rashford leave United and expects the 25-year-old to sign a new contract.

“I’d be surprised if he played for another club in the Premier League. You never know but it would shock me given he’s Man United through and through, and my suspicion is that he will end up signing a new contract there.”

The England international had a hard time with the Red Devils in the previous campaign. He looked low on confidence. The forward was lacklustre when he was given the opportunities.

However, this season, Rashford seems to have found his feet once again. The 25-year-old is currently the leading goalscorer for the Old Trafford side in the current campaign, having found the back of the net eight times in all competitions.

Erik ten Hag has primarily used the English star in the number nine position this term. The Dutch manager preferred the academy graduate ahead of former player Cristiano Ronaldo in his starting lineup.

Rashford has had a prominent role up front this season due to Anthony Martial’s injury issues. The former AS Monaco star has struggled to stay fit in the current campaign.

The 25-year-old has also thrived for the Three Lions in Qatar. He has made his way back into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the World Cup. The forward’s brace against Wales in the group stages was special.
