Manchester United to go all out to sign South Korea and Napoli defender Kim Min-jae next summer
Manchester United will go all out to sign South Korea and Napoli star Kim Min-jae in the summer transfer window of 2023, according to Give Me Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have been scouting the 26-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup with his national side. Turkish outfit Fenerbahce sold the defender to the Serie A outfit in the recent transfer window. However, his performances have caught many people’s eyes.
Min-jae is now being tipped to be on the move once again soon. And the Old Trafford side are in the race for his signature. The South Korean’s current contract with the side from Naples includes a £43 million release clause.
Napoli are unbeaten in Serie A this season. They also finished top of their group in the Champions League, with the likes of Liverpool and Ajax challenging the Italians.
The former Fenerbahce centre-back has been ever-present in the backline in Luciano Spalletti’s starting lineup in the current campaign. The defender has made 20 appearances for the Partenopei in all competitions, scoring two goals.
Min-jae has played every minute for the Taegeuk Warriors in Qatar. While they managed to toughen out a draw against Uruguay, their 3-2 loss to Ghana has put them on the brink of elimination from the group.
Erik ten Hag has a lot of options at the moment in the backline at United. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have been the Dutch manager’s preferred partnership so far.
As a result, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have found game time hard to come by. While our captain has been underwhelming at the club level, his performances at the World Cup have been solid.
