Journo: Manchester United among clubs scouting Ligue 1 striker at 2022 FIFA World Cup

LOSC Lille and Canada star being scouted by various clubs at the World Cup including Manchester United

Manchester United are amongst a number of clubs who have sent scouts to watch Canada and LOSC Lille star Jonathan David at the World Cup, according to transfer expert Ekrem Konur on Twitter (h/t Express).

In the Premier League, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Everton are monitoring the 22-year-old. German giants Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the forward.

Some fans of the Gunners feel their squad lacks a quality backup for

Gabriel Jesus with Eddie Nketiah on the bench. On the other hand, Spurs have a stacked forward line with the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Richarlison has also added depth to the Lilywhites attack.

The Blues seem to have perennial issues with their goalscoring. Supporters of the Stamford Bridge side are desperate for a quality number nine. And Everton have struggled overall in the last few seasons in the Premier League.

Robert Lewandowski left the Bundesliga giants in the recent transfer window. The Bavarians have not yet signed an out-and-out quality replacement for the Poland international.

While David has impressed at LOSC Lille over the years, the forward has failed to showcase his qualities at the World Cup. Canada have been eliminated from the prestigious tournament in Qatar after their losses to Belgium and Croatia.

United recently lost Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal international has parted ways with the club. As a result, there is a vacant space in the forward line at the Old Trafford side.

Marcus Rashford has done well so far in the current campaign. He has been preferred in the number nine position in the absence of Anthony Martial, who has had injury issues.

Thus, David would add depth to the Red Devils’ forward line. He is still young and with the right guidance, he could be the guy to lead our line for years to come.
