Germany star Youssoufa Moukoko, a Manchester United target, is in talks with Borussia Dortmund to extend his stay in Germany, according to SportBible (h/t Manchester Evening News).

From the Premier League, the Red Devils and Liverpool are interested in the 18-year-old. The youngster’s current contract with BVB expires in the summer of 2023.

However, it seems the forward will remain at the Bundesliga outfit beyond this season. He has opened talks with Edin Terzic’s team over a new deal and it won’t be a massive surprise if he wants to stay and develop at the German club further.

Moukoko has made his way through the youth ranks at Dortmund. The 18-year-old made his debut for BVB in December 2020 against Zenit Saint Petersburg in the group stages of the Champions League. The forward came on as a substitute and played for over half an hour in the 2-1 win.

Over the years, he has been a squad player for the Bundesliga giants. However, in the current campaign, Terzic has given the youngster a more prominent role.

In recent weeks before the mid-season break, Moukoko was being handed regular starts for Dortmund. He also made it to Hansi Flick’s 26-man World Cup squad. And the 18-year-old was handed only his second cap for Germany in their 2-1 loss to Japan in the Group E fixture in Qatar on 23 November.

United’s current crop of forwards is all relatively young. The club signed Antony from Ajax in the recent transfer window. And the 22-year-old has brought much-needed flair to the team.

With 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo departing, we are now left with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elnaga and Alejandro Garnacho in the attack.

However, the Red Devils evidently lack a striker and Moukoko has shown promise as a number nine. Thus, if the Old Trafford side are looking for young talent, the German is currently one of the best out there.
