AFC Crewe have made an offer for former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo
An English club playing in the 14th division, AFC Crewe have confirmed via a club statement that they have made an offer to sign former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer and are offering him a club record £35 per week.
Ronaldo who left Manchester United after a mutual termination of the contract now finds himself a free agent without a club and despite him being 37 years old, there will be teams that are interested in the Portuguese superstar.
However, not even in the wildest of dreams would have Ronaldo dreamt of getting an offer from a 14th-division Cheshire team in AFC Crewe. It seems like a cheeky offer from the lower-division club but it has garnered them a lot of attention.
One thing that Ronaldo will surely get at AFC Crewe which he did not get during his time as a Manchester United player this season is guaranteed game time. However, there is no chance the Red Devils legend is joining Crewe.
The Chesire club went on to prolong the joke even further by claiming that they would be offering Ronaldo a club record £35 per week in wages, which would be sufficient for him to travel in the train and also afford a pint after the game.
As funny as this transfer offer is, Ronaldo will be keen on trying and figuring out as soon as possible where he wants to play his football next. There is no doubt that the former Man United striker will want to move to a top European club.
Right now, Ronaldo is away on international duty with Portugal and he will not want any distractions during the World Cup. He is likely to put all the transfer business till after the event but work will be going on in the background.
The Portuguese superstar will be keen on proving Manchester United wrong and showing that he still has what it takes to be at a top club. It will be an audition of sorts for Ronaldo at the World Cup and clubs who are interested in him will keep a lookout.
