England and Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane on Manchester United radar
Manchester United have Tottenham Hotspur and England superstar Harry Kane on their radar as they eye a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 37-year-old has parted ways with the Red Devils after coming to terms on terminating his contract. However, it has not come as a surprise to many after the Portugal international’s controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Now, the Old Trafford side have turned their eyes on a forward in the ranks of their Premier League rivals. The Spurs striker’s current contract with the North London side ends in the summer of 2024. However, it remains to be seen what sort of valuation Daniel Levy puts on the 29-year-old’s head.
Kane has been one of the best players in the English top flight since his breakout campaign in 2015. Since then, the England international has developed into a fine overall player.
During Joe Mourinho’s reign at N17, the 29-year-old added playmaking to his skillset. The striker has formed a brilliant partnership with Son Heung-min at Tottenham.
Currently, Kane is in Qatar with the Three Lions. Gareth Southgate’s team trounced Iran 6-2 in their opening game in Group B on 21 November at Khalifa International Stadium. And the captain of the national side provided two assists in the fixture.
United seemingly have a dearth of attacking options for the centre-forward position now that Ronaldo has departed. Anthony Martial has not been available as much this season due to his constant injuries.
As a result, Marcus Rashford has been preferred by Erik ten Hag up front. And while the 25-year-old has been decent for the Red Devils in the current campaign, some fans have concerns about his finishing abilities.
