Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Manchester United with immediate effect
Manchester United have announced that Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will leave the club by mutual agreement with immediate effect and have thanked the 37-year-old superstar for his exploits in a Red Devils shirt.
The Manchester-based club released a statement in which they revealed that the player who has been under some controversy in recent weeks has agreed to leave the club upon discussion. Ronaldo will now move on to a new challenge once the World Cup is completed.
Ronaldo, who is 37 years old, has spent two separate spells at Man United and there is no argument over which one was the more successful one. The return of the prodigal son has not really gone according to plan, with the former Real Madrid star really struggling, especially this season.
The Portuguese forward came out recently and gave an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which Ronaldo touched upon a number of topics at Man United and hit out at the club hierarchy and the manager, Erik ten Hag.
His comments certainly did not go down well with much of the footballing circle and there has been some serious backlash directed towards the former Juventus star. It was always going to be interesting to see what decision the club made regarding this situation.
Ronaldo might not have had the best of seasons with Man United currently but there is no doubting his legacy in a Red Devils shirt. Despite it being tarnished towards the end, Ronaldo will always remain beloved in Old Trafford.
