Alejandro Garnacho reveals he likes to play on left wing amidst impressive Manchester United form
Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has revealed that he likes to play on the left wing amidst his impressive displays in the last few weeks. The 18-year-old admits that he prefers to cut inside on his right foot.
The Red Devils signed the Argentine star from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020. And after impressing with the U21 side, lifting the FA Youth Cup in the previous campaign, he has broken into the first team this season.
Speaking on the club’s official website (h/t Manchester Evening News), Garnacho also disclosed that he has been working on his left foot as well.
“I’ve always liked to play out wide on the left, as a right-footed player able to cut inside. To be able to play as a right-footed player down the left, you also have to be pretty decent with your weaker foot.
“From an early age, I’ve always practiced hard using both feet, because that makes you into a much better player and so nowadays I can play with both feet – not to perfection but to a good standard.”
Garnacho was handed his first start for United in the Europa League against Sheriff Tiraspol. He played 79 minutes in a 3-0 victory against the Moldovan outfit at Old Trafford on 27 October.
The youngster then got his first goal in a red shirt a week later in the UEL against Real Sociedad in San Sebastian. La Real were beaten by the lone strike from the Argentine in the first half and the fixture ended 1-0.
The 18-year-old also started for the Red Devils against Aston Villa in the Premier League. Unfortunately, Unai Emery’s team managed to score three past us as we lost 3-1.
However, Garnacho had a chance to redeem himself against the Lions in the Carabao Cup and he did exactly that. The forward came on as a substitute and provided two assists as the Villans fell 4-2.
The 18-year-old came in clutch once again as we faced Fulham in the league. In stoppage time, the youngster ran past the Cottagers’ defence and found the back of the net, giving United a 2-1 victory.

Garnacho has shown his qualities in recent matches. However, the club now need to manage the forward properly and help him develop into one of the world’s best.
