Real Madrid and Juventus join Manchester United in race for Olympique Lyon right-back Malo Gusto
Manchester United have been joined by Real Madrid and Juventus in the race for Olympique Lyon right-back Malo Gusto, according to Tuttosport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils will face competition in their pursuit of the 19-year-old who has been regularly linked with the club. The European champions and Serie A giants are also interested in the France U21 international.
Diogo Dalot is currently the first-choice right-back at the Old Trafford side. However, the Portuguese has seemingly been overburdened this season. And adding reinforcements for the right-hand side of the defence is going to be a priority for the Manchester-based club next year.
The 23-year-old is the outfield player with the most starts for United in the 2022/23 campaign. Aaron-Wan Bissaka has evidently fallen out of favour under Erik ten Hag, leading to the former FC Porto star shouldering the burden.
The former Crystal Palace star has featured in just one match for the Red Devils this term. He came on as a substitute in the final minutes of the game against Liverpool in the Premier League, where we won 2-1.
The 24-year-old was the preferred option when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the manager. The Norwegian put his faith in the England U21 international after signing him from the Eagles in the summer of 2019.
However, when Ole was replaced by Ralf Rangnick, he gave Dalot opportunities in the team. As a result, the Portugal international got to showcase some of his abilities. And fans feel the 23-year-old is one of the most improved players from last season under Erik ten Hag.
