AS Roma distance themselves from Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo
Speaking in an interview with Thinking Football Summit as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Tiago Pinto who is the director of Italian football club Roma has rubbished all claims linking Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to the club.
Ronaldo’s future at Man United is under constant speculation and one club that he is heavily linked to is Roma. A reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho has been touted for quite some time now but it does not look to be the case.
The 37-year-old has not had the best of second stints at Man United and has been heavily touted for an exit ever since the summer but a move has never really materialized and his time at Old Trafford has only gotten worse.
Ronaldo has not been able to influence games like he used to and looks like a pale shadow of his former self. It looks like age is finally catching up with the superstar and it remains to be seen if he can get back to his best.
The biggest drawback for Ronaldo is the fact that the goals have dried up. This means that all the problems on the pitch seem to be accentuated and the 37-year-old just does not seem like someone who belongs in an Erik ten Hag team.
Speaking about the links of Ronaldo to Roma, Pinto has absolutely rubbished those claims claiming that it was never an option.
“The truth is that Cristiano Ronaldo was never a possibility. These rumours had no foundation, but in Italy they talk every day about three different players linked with your club”
There have been times this season when the 37-year-old has not even been a starter for the club and has been forced to play a backup role to the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial who have been in much better form.
Ronaldo does not look like he’ll stay at Man United for too much longer. He is likely to push for a move away from the club and there could be a chance that he leaves Old Trafford once and for all in January.
