Marcus Rashford advises Manchester United youngsters to “train how you would play” to make most of their opportunities
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has advised up-and-coming youngsters at the club to “train how you would play” to make the most of their opportunities in the first team.
The 25-year-old came up through the youth ranks at the club and has made a place for himself in the senior side. And the academy graduate has gone from strength to strength over the years,
Speaking on the club’s official website (h/t Manchester Evening News), Rashford counselled prospects currently at United to get used to the intensity of the matches. He wants youngsters to play their natural game on the pitch.
“Just train how you would play. You have to get used to the intensity that this team plays at and the only way to do that is to just do it in training. And then when the game does come it’s not going to be a surprise to you.
“You know what the intensity is like, you know what the strength of the players is like and then you just have to express yourself when you go out there. Don’t be nervous or anything like that. It’s a big moment for you so you just want to enjoy it.”
Currently, the Old Trafford side have a bunch of exciting prospects in their ranks. Alejandro Garnacho has taken most of the fanbase by storm with his recent cameos off the bench. The 18-year-old has come into his own in the last few weeks.
The young Argentine has made a difference whenever he has stepped on the pitch. The forward’s energy and directness have made a difference on the left wing.
Garnacho made his full debut for the Red Devils in the Europa League against Sheriff Tiraspol on 27 October this year in a 3-0 victory. And a few days later, the Argentine scored his first goal in a United shirt against Real Sociedad in the UEL.
The 18-year-old came on against Aston Villa in the Carabao cup as a second-half substitute and changed the game. He gave two assists to help the Old Trafford side to a 4-2 victory. And against Fulham in the Premier League, the forward scored a stoppage-time winner.
During pre-season, the likes of Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage also caught a lot of people’s eyes. We also have Hannibal Mejbri, Ethan Laird, Alvaro Fernandez and Amad Diallo, who are currently out on loan.

Rashford broke into the United first team in the 2016/17 campaign. And while he was underwhelming last season, the academy graduate has seemingly found his feet under Erik ten Hag.
The England international has seen the highs and the lows. Hopefully, the forward will have a good run with the Three Lions in Qatar to add to his experience.
