Louis Saha slams Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo for the timing of his interview with Piers Morgan

Former Manchester United ace Louis Saha has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo for the timing of his interview with Piers Morgan. The ex-Red Devil feels the Portugal international’s comments do him no favours.

The 37-year-old criticised the club, the Glazers, as well as Erik ten Hag. However, his statements have not been taken well by the majority of the fanbase, especially his feelings towards the gaffer.

Speaking to Compare.bet (h/t Manchester Evening News), Saha was disappointed with the timing of Ronaldo’s outburst. And the former United forward believes clubs interested in the 37-year-old’s signature might be put off by the interview.

“If he wants a transfer, or if he feels like he’s been betrayed, this interview doesn’t help. It’s not the right timing because the manager is doing well, and it completely overshadows what Garnacho had done, winning the game against Fulham.

“I’m confused by what his agent and his entourage wanted with this. When they watch this, any other club wanting to pursue him can see that when things aren’t going his way, it’s trouble.”

Saha spent time during his time with the Red Devils playing alongside Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s first stint at the club was fruitful and the side won several trophies.

The Portuguese icon decided to leave the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2009 to join Real Madrid. And after a number of successful years away from the Manchester-based club with Los Blancos and Juventus, he returned to the club.

In his first full season back at United in 2021/22, the 37-year-old finished as the top goalscorer. Unfortunately, the Red Devils struggled to compete for titles and faltered in the Premier League.

While Ronaldo was one of our best players in the previous campaign, he has struggled to find form under Ten Hag. The Dutch manager has opted to play other players ahead of the Portuguese star in the starting lineup.

As a result, the 37-year-old has mostly found himself sitting on the bench this season. The forward has started in just four English top-flight games this term.

Many fans feel Ronaldo has already played his final game for United, with the Portuguese star set to feature for his national side in Qatar for the next few weeks. At this point, it would be best for the club to part ways with the forward in January.
