LAFC part-owner Will Ferrell opens door for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been invited to Los Angeles FC (LAFC) by part-owner Will Ferrell. The American actor has opened the door for the Portuguese star to make his way to Major League Soccer.
The 37-year-old recently made some objectionable statements about the Red Devils and Erik ten Hag. He accused the club of ‘betrayal’. The forward also stated that he has no respect for the Dutch manager.
This has led to speculation about Ronaldo’s future at United. Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t The Sun), revealed that the Portuguese would be welcomed at the MLS outfit.
“Always come to LA! You’re welcome. We can’t pay you that much, but there’s really nice golf courses and beaches. Just try it!”
The 37-year-old is currently on international duty with his national side. Os Navegadores are preparing for the World Cup at the moment. They will take on Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H in Qatar.
Ronaldo will evidently hope to add another international title to his trophy cabinet. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner won Euro 2016 with Portugal and also lifted the Nations League under Fernando Santos.
The 37-year-old is set to participate in his fifth World Cup. The tournament in the middle east will give the forward another opportunity to cement his place as the greatest player of all time.
Ronaldo returned to United last season and had a fruitful campaign. Unfortunately, the Portuguese icon has struggled to make a mark in a red shirt this term.
Ten Hag has preferred other options ahead of the 37-year-old in the number nine position. This has led to the forward spending the majority of his time on the bench this season.

While we evidently have a shortage of strikers at the club, Ronaldo has seemingly made it difficult for the Red Devils to keep a hold of him.
Most fans would not have had a problem with the superstar airing his grievances about the infrastructural issues at the club. However, disrespecting the manager was a step too far.
