Rio Ferdinand criticises Martin Tyler and Gary Neville for Alejandro Garnacho criticism following late winner for Manchester United vs Fulham
Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand did not take kindly to Martin Tyler and Gary Neville bringing up the disciplinary issues of Alejandro Garnacho after his late winner against Fulham.
The Red Devils took on Marco Silva’s team on Sunday (13 November) in the Premier League. The score was tied until the 93rd minute when our young Argentine scored to get us the three points with a 2-1 victory.
However, as soon as the 18-year-old found the back of the net, the two commentators, Tyler and Neville, brought up the speculation surrounding him off the field. The forward has been accused of having a bad attitude.
Earlier, Erik ten Hag has expressed his displeasure with Garnacho. And Bruno Fernandes has also opened up about the youngster’s behaviour not being up to the mark during pre-season.
Speaking on the Vibe with Five YouTube channel (h/t Metro), Ferdinand was not happy with the two commentators. The ex-Red Devil feels it is unfair to bring focus on what the 18-year-old has done previously.
“Those type of things – and I know it from being a young player who got in trouble a little bit – it’s very easy to get a reputation and it’s so difficult to lose one.
“So to give him that [tag] and then all of sudden he does something brilliant again, and the commentator in the game goes on about his attitude, it’s the first thing that gets said. And I’m sitting there going, ‘How do you do that?'”
Garnacho has done well in recent weeks after being given regular opportunities in the side. The youngster has made a relatively bigger impact with the few minutes he has been given than some other stars.
The 18-year-old scored his debut goal for the Old Trafford side in the Europa League against Real Sociedad on 3 November. Then, the Argentine came off the bench against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and gave two assists to lead us to a 4-2 win.

Once again against Fulham, the forward came clutch. Thus, the fanbase and United need to make sure Garnacho is kept on the right path. However, that does not mean bringing up previous instances of indiscipline every time he does something good.
