Benfica want €40million for Manchester United target Goncalo Ramos

According to Record (h/t Manchester Evening News). Premier League giants Manchester United will need to fork out €40million for SL Benfica star Goncalo Ramos.

The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Benfica and is today a major player for the Portuguese giants. A centre forward, he can also play as a second striker or drop deeper to function as a number 10. This versatility will be a massive boost for Man United should they sign him.

Erik ten Hag is a fan of the player and is keen to bring him to Old Trafford. It makes sense given that the Red Devils lack an infallible goalscorer who can start upfront week in, week out.

SL Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos sees an increase in price tag following interest from Manchester United.

With 12 goals and six assists in 20 games across all competitions, the Portuguese star has stepped in for Darwin Nunez who left for Liverpool last summer. Ramos is the joint top scorer in the Portuguese top-flight this season and will only improve in the coming years.

Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo are the only senior strikers on the Red Devils’ roster. The former continues to struggle with injuries while the latter is woefully out of form. Unless something changes soon, the club could struggle to keep up their decent start to the campaign.

A price of €40m is reasonable given Ramos’s potential. He will represent Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar and a good showing will certainly jack up his asking price.

Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United are both keen on the player. The former has already contacted Benfica but deems the asking price to be too steep. This could work in our favour should a move be made to bring him to Old Trafford.
