Patrice Evra feels Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has “found the right balance” this season
Manchester United legend Patrice Evra feels Marcus Rashford has found his joy once again in playing football this season. The ex-Red Devil believes the 25-year-old was preoccupied during his rough patch at Old Trafford.
The England international is the club’s leading goalscorer in the current campaign. A day before his 25th birthday, the forward scored his 100th goal for the Manchester-based club.
Speaking to Betfair (h/t Manchester Evening News), Evra, who spent eight seasons at United, sees a difference in Rashford’s attitude under Erik ten Hag. The former French left-back thinks the 25-year-old has “found the right balance”.
“When we think back to when he started under Louis Van Gaal, you could see the passion there, and the way he would celebrate with his friends. Later, we had a Rashford who looked preoccupied, and as soon as you do that and make one mistake, people kill you and say you’re a bad player.
“Finally, he’s found the right balance, and I can see that he’s happy. He’s smiling, he’s screaming when he scores goals.”
The United academy graduate made his way through the youth ranks and broke into the first team in the 2016/17 campaign. And the forward has developed into a fine player over the years.
In the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, Rashford had his best spell in a red shirt. The 25-year-old regularly got on the scoresheet for the Red Devils and created plenty of chances.
However, he was unable to build on that. Some fans thought the England international would become the talisman of the side. Unfortunately, he did not live up to expectations in the previous campaign.
Rashford was one of the players to miss a spot kick for the Three Lions in the Euro 2020 final penalty shootout against Italy. And England ended up missing out on the trophy at Wembley Stadium.
The loss seemed to have affected the 25-year-old. Whenever he featured for the Old Trafford side last season, the forward looked short of confidence.
