Anthony Martial returns from injury to Manchester United first-team training ahead of Real Sociedad clash
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has returned from his injury to first-team training ahead of the Europa League fixture against Real Sociedad, via Manchester Evening News. The Old Trafford side will take on the Spanish outfit on Thursday (3 October) at Reale Arena.
The French forward has missed the Red Devils’ last six fixtures in all competitions after picking up an injury against Everton in the Premier League. In his first start of the 2022/23 campaign, the 26-year-old was forced off just before the half-hour mark.
Martial has been marred by injuries this season. The latest setback was the third of the campaign for the former AS Monaco star, with hamstring and Achilles knocks hampering him previously.
The France international has seemingly found his feet once again under Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager trusted the striker during pre-season and the 26-year-old proved his worth during the friendlies.
Unfortunately, Martial was not fit for the start of the current campaign. However, he returned for the game against Liverpool and held the Old Trafford side to their first victory under the Dutch manager.
However, the 26-year-old did not feature for a while after that and only returned to action against Manchester City. While the Frenchman did get on the scoresheet, the Red Devils were beaten 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium.
Martial has been unavailable for most of the fixtures this season. However, when the forward is available, the gaffer puts his faith in him. And the French national has not disappointed as of yet, scoring or assisting every time he has featured in the current campaign.
