Manchester United star Raphael Varane provides a promising update on his injury
According to a post made on Instagram (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Raphael Varane has provided the latest update on his injury as he continues to recover.
The French defender looked distraught as he was led off the field injured against Chelsea. With the FIFA World Cup in Qatar just weeks away, he now faces a race against time to be included in the French squad.
Les Bleus will defend the title they won in Russia in 2018 and will need their top players available. Poor campaigns in Euro 2020 last summer and UEFA Nations League earlier this year showcased the need for Didier Deschamps to incorporate changes.
While there is still a chance that Varane can make the showpiece event in Qatar, he is almost certainly set to miss Man United’s games until then. He continues to recover at Clairefontaine and has posted that he feels fine.
This is good news for both club and country in the long term. With Varane working hard on his fitness, Red Devils fans can rest assured knowing that they will have their man back after the World Cup.
Speaking on the matter earlier in the week, Red Devils’ manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that the player is out of action for Manchester United in the near future. However, the Dutchman failed to provide any update on the star’s prognosis.
Varane’s update now could indicate that the issue is not as bad as feared. The sooner we have him back, the better our chances of making a splash this season.
