Manchester United will contend with Real Madrid for the signature of Palmeiras youngster Endrick, according to Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The forward is currently 16 years old and the Red Devils, alongside Los Blancos, will try to sign the Brazilian when he turns 18. Post-Brexit rules prohibit English clubs from signing overseas players who are under the age of 18.

Endrick recently made history when he became the youngest-ever goalscorer for Palmeiras’ senior squad. The 16-year-old found the back of the net against Club Athletico Paranaense in a 3-1 victory.

The Brazilian has come up through the ranks of the Brasileirao outfit. And having impressed with Palmeiras’ youth sides, he made his debut earlier this year for the first team.

Endrick came on as a substitute against Coritiba in the Brasileirao. The 16-year-old played over 20 minutes in the second half as Palmeiras won the game 4-0. Since then, he has made four appearances for the senior side.

Youngsters are an essential part of a club’s growth and development. And United are one of the most successful teams in the world when it comes to benefitting from their academy.

Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville are just some of the names that spent their entire careers with the Red Devils. The trio were an essential part of the side during its most successful period.

Currently, United have Marcus Rashford, who graduated from the academy, as a regular first-team member. In addition, Anthony Elnaga and Alejandro Garnacho are youth team players who have made a place for themselves in the first team.
