Anthony Martial back in individual training after injury for Manchester United ahead of Sheriff Tiraspol clash
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is back in individual training after sustaining an injury against Everton at Goodison Park. The club face off against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League next. The Moldovan outfit visit Old Trafford on Thursday (27 October).
The 26-year-old last featured for the Red Devils when he started against the Toffees. Unfortunately, the French national lasted just half an hour and had to be substituted.
Speaking ahead of the Sheriff game on the club’s official website via Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag revealed the positive injury news. The Dutch manager hopes to have the 26-year-old back soon.
“He’s improving. He’s back on the [training] pitch, not in the group so we have to wait for that step. But hopefully he’s quickly back.”
The French attacker was underwhelming for the Old Trafford side last season. After falling down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, the former AS Monaco forward moved to Sevilla on loan in January 2022.
Unfortunately, his time in Andalusia was disappointing as well. Martial could not hack it under Julen Lopetegui in Seville. And the forward subsequently returned to the English top flight after his short La Liga experience.
However, Ten Hag has seemed to revive a spark in the French national. During pre-season, the 26-year-old impressed fans with his displays. The striker displays instilled hope in the fans.
Martial has not failed to disappoint when he has played in the current campaign. The forward has contributed a goal or assist whenever he has featured for the club this season.
Unfortunately, minutes on the pitch have been scarce for the 26-year-old. Fitness issues have resulted in him garnering just four appearances in the 2022/23 campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo has not got a consistent run-in in the team this season. Ten Hag has deployed Marcus Rashfrd in the number nine position over the Portuguese. However, fans aspire to see Martial back leading the line, even though the game against Sheriff comes too early for his potential return.
