Manchester United are monitoring former Chelsea star and current AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham as they look to strengthen their attack next year, according to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils are not the only side interested in bringing the 25-year-old back to England. Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping an eye on the forward currently plying his trade in Rome.

Abraham had an impressive season under Jose Mourinho last term. In the previous campaign, the 25-year-old featured in 53 games for the Giallorossi in all competitions. He ended up scoring 27 goals and providing five assists.

Having come up through the ranks at Chelsea, the England international had to prove himself in the second tier of English football before being given a chance with the Blues.

Abraham became the talisman at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard. In the 2019/20 season, in 34 Premier League games, the forward scored 15 goals and gave four assists.

However, with the departure of Lampard from Chelsea and the arrival of Thomas Tuchel in the Stamford Bridge dugout, the 25-year-old fell down the pecking order.

At United, currently, the centre-forward position has been occupied by Marcus Rashford on most occasions this season. Erik ten Hag has preferred the England international over Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting lineup.

Anthony Martial, on the other hand, has had trouble remaining fit. Fans would prefer him over Rashford as the striker, with the 24-year-old considered not clinical enough. However, the French national has been unavailable for most of the campaign.
