Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix could be signed in January to replace Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United could sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix in the January transfer window to replace compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo at the club, according to Deportes Cuatro (h/t The Sun).
Erik ten Hag is happy to let the 37-year-old leave the Red Devils in the upcoming window after his antics against Tottenham Hotspur. And the club eye Los Rojiblancos’ young forward to take the five-time Ballon d’Or winners place.
United are looking to sign Felix on loan from Atletico in January before making the move permanent in the summer of 2023. And Jorge Mendes, who also represents Ronaldo, will be working to negotiate a deal for both of his Portuguese clients.

Felix moved to Spain for the 2019/20 campaign from SL Benfica. However, the 22-year-old has failed to showcase his potential under Diego Simeone over the years.
The Portuguese youngster has found it hard to make an impact at Atletico and cement his place in the starting lineup. In the current campaign, the forward has often found himself on the bench in recent weeks.
Ronaldo has had similar issues under Erik ten Hag at United. The 37-year-old has not been the first name on the team sheet. And against Spurs, when the Red Devils put in one of their best performances, the veteran was on the bench and stormed down the tunnel before the full-time whistle.

Under the Dutch manager, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has started just twice in the Premier League. His form in front of goal has not helped him either, with two goals in 12 appearances in all competitions this season.
