Manchester United will have to bid at least €100 million to land Rafael Leao from AC Milan
Manchester United will have to bid at least €100 million if they want to land AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, according to Calciomercato via Sport Witness (Manchester Evening News).
The Portugal international has a release clause of €150 million. However, the Rossoneri are willing to negotiate on the price.
The 23-year-old has been performing well since last season. The forward signed for the Serie A giants in the summer of 2019 from LOSC Lille. But it evidently took the youngster time to adapt to Italian football.
In his first two campaigns in Milan, Leao seemingly struggled to find his feet. The 23-year-old was a regular in the Italian outfit’s starting lineup. However, fans felt he could improve his numbers.
And in the 2021/22 season, the Portuguese star became Milan’s talisman. He won the Player of the Season award in Serie A. The Rossoneri ended up lifting their first Scudetto after 11 years.
Leao made 42 appearances for Milan in the previous campaign in all competitions. And the winger scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists for the Italians. The Portuguese has been even better for the Serie A giants this season. In 13 appearances, the 23-year-old has four goals and eight assists.
United have several options to choose from in the attack. The wings are occupied by the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony and Marcus Rashford. And the trio have been decent this season under Erik ten Hag.
However, with the seeming uncertainty around Cristiano Ronaldo’s future and the evident fitness issues of Anthony Martial, fans would not mind additional reinforcement.
