Harry Maguire and Brandon Williams return from injury and are training for Manchester United
Manchester United star Harry Maguire has returned from his injury and is training alongside Brandon Williams ahead of our visit to Stamford Bridge, according to Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils take on Chelsea on 22 October (Saturday) in the Premier League. The Old Trafford side are coming off an emphatic 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Our captain picked up an injury during the international break in a UEFA Nations League game between England and Germany. On the other hand, the full-back, who was on loan at Norwich in the previous campaign, has been missing in action since pre-season due to fitness issues.
While Maguire has missed the last few weeks due to an injury, the 29-year-old has fallen out of favour since the 4-0 loss to Brentford. The England international has not started for the Red Devils in the Premier League since then.
Erik ten Hag has preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the backline. The French and Argentine defenders have formed a solid partnership for the Old Trafford side.
United have kept three back-to-back clean sheets in all competitions. Victor Lindelof has also played a part in keeping our defence solid since returning from the sidelines.
Maguire’s last start for the Red Devils came when Real Sociedad visited Old Trafford for the first Europa League group stage fixture. Unfortunately, we lost 1-0 on the night.
Even though Maguire has not been a preferred choice at United, Gareth Southgate seems to trust the centre-back. And the defender started the Three Lions’ last two games before the start of the World Cup.
