Erik ten Hag plays down links to Tottenham before taking over at Manchester United

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur as quoted by Manchester United’s official website, Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has played down links to the Tottenham Hotspur job before taking up the hot seat at Old Trafford.

The Dutch tactician was heavily linked with a job at Hotspur Way when Jose Mourinho was sacked but ten Hag chose to stay at Ajax then. However, the talented coach took up the job offered at Man United this summer.

Eventually, Spurs appointed Nuno Espirito Santos as their head coach in what was a very short-lived stint before the Portuguese manager was replaced by the Italian master tactician Antonio Conte at North London.

Conte’s time at Tottenham has been a rather impressive stint and the Italian manager looks to inspire the Lilywhites to a trophy and end their long-term quest for silverware. The Italian tactician has been making all the right noises so far.

Erik ten Hag and his team will have a task trying to stop Conte’s men on Wednesday night and it remains to be seen how the Red Devils go about beating Tottenham. It promised to be a very exciting clash and let’s hope it lives up to it.

Speaking about the prospect of having taken up the Spurs job, Erik ten Hag played down the answer and did not give it much importance

“I will never talk about interest or what else, it’s also not interesting. I’m here and I’m happy to be here and I want to get the best out of here.”

Man United have been having a good run of games in the Premier League. They are showing signs of playing some promising football in recent weeks and will want to put up a statement when they face Tottenham.

Ten Hag has already managed to get the better of both Liverpool and Arsenal in his short stint as a Man United manager and getting the better of Tottenham would be yet another impressive achievement to add to his kitty.
