Casemiro hails Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for his desire to win, ambition and hard work

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has hailed Erik ten Hag for the strengths he brings to the table. The Brazilian believes the Dutch manager’s desire to win, ambition and hard work make him a great coach.

Ten Hag made his way to the Old Trafford dugout at the end of last season. The Dutch manager left Ajax after a successful five-year spell in Amsterdam and replaced Ralf Rangnick in Manchester.

Speaking to the club’s official website (h/t Manchester Evening News), Casemiro praised the coaching staff’s mentality. The Brazilian also spoke of former head coaches he has played under.

“I believe it’s his desire to win, his ambition and hard work. Not just him, but all the coaching staff.

“I believe Manchester United have a great manager, it was there to see at Ajax, I think he’s doing a good job here.

“Every manager has their own way of playing, their own way of leading. I’ve worked with [Carlo] Ancelotti and [Zinedine] Zidane, they are managers that want to win, which is the most important thing.”

Casemiro signed for United in the recent transfer window. The 30-year-old had established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the game during his time at Real Madrid.

In the Spanish capital, Casemiro played under the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelloti. Under the French legend, the Brazilian won three back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles.

And in the previous campaign under the great Italian head coach, Madrid, against all odds, lifted the prestigious European title. The 30-year-old was a big part of all the success Los Blancos have experienced over the years.

Under Ten Hag at United, Casemiro has had to bide his time to get into the starting lineup. The Brazilian was pipped by Scott McTominay, who the Dutch manager preferred during our winning run in the Premier League.

Finally, against Everton on 9 October, Casemiro was handed his first start in the English top flight. While the 30-year-old had a shaky start to the match, he ended up picking up the Man of the Match award.

Hopefully, Casemiro can build on that performance and cement his place in the starting XI at United. The Red Devils will welcome Eddie Howe’s team next to Old Trafford in the league.
