Victor Lindelof praises Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after his 700th club career goal against Everton
Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof has praised Cristiano Ronaldo after his 700th club career goal against Everton. The Portuguese scored the second goal of the game for Erik ten Hag’s team as the Red Devils won 2-1.
United visited Goodison Park on 9 October in the Premier League. The Old Trafford side went behind in the early minutes of the match through an Alex Iwobi strike. However, goals from Antony and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner saw us secure the three points.
Speaking after the game to MUTV via Manchester Evening News, United’s Swedish defender hailed Ronaldo’s longevity.
“I’m very happy for him [Ronaldo], his numbers speak for themselves. To come in, to perform and score goals at his age is just remarkable. A fantastic football player.”
The Portugal international has had a tough time since the arrival of the new boss. Ronaldo has not started a lot of games for the Red Devils this season.
Erik ten Hag has started the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial ahead of the 37-year-old in the centre-forward position. And it was the same against Everton as the Portuguese sat on the bench.
However, the former AS Monaco forward who started the game for United had to be taken off. And Ronaldo replaced Martial just before the half-hour mark.
The score was 1-1 at that point. Antony had equalised in the 15th minute of the fixture. And chances were few and far between against a robust Everton defence.
Ronaldo gave United the lead in the 44th minute after his former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro put him through on goal. And the Portuguese did what he has done best over the years and put the ball in the back of the net.

It was Ronaldo’s first PL goal of the 2022/23 campaign. The 37-year-old has started just once for the Red Devils this season. Will the strike against Frank Lampard’s team give Ten Hag the incentive to start the Portuguese more often? Only time will tell.
