Erik ten Hag expects Casemiro to improve at Manchester United after first Premier League start against Everton
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expects Casemiro to improve after being handed his first Premier League start against Everton. The Red Devils beat the Toffees 2-1 away from home on 9 October.
Our new midfield signing from Real Madrid was in the starting XI for the first time in the league since his arrival. And the Brazilian picked up the Man of The Match award after the win.
Speaking after the game via Manchester Evening News, the gaffer gave his thoughts on Casemiro’s display. The Dutch manager is hopeful the 30-year-old will go from strength to strength after showing his qualities against Frank Lampard’s team.
“Yeah, difficult, I don’t know. The day he came, I repeat myself – I have told this story several times – so I don’t know if that’s necessary.
“But you see I think he settled in and you see which impact he can have and when he gets games he will be better and better.”
Casemiro signed for United just before the North West derby at Old Trafford on 23 August. The game against Liverpool was a turning point for our season, as we had lost the previous two fixtures.
Against Jurgen Klopp’s team, the Red Devils managed to pull off a surprise victory, beating them 2-1. And the former Madrid star found it difficult to get into the starting XI as the Old Trafford side went on a four-game winning run in the PL.
Ten Hag had decided to keep his team relatively unchanged during that time. And Scott McTominay was the one who was preferred in the number six position.
The Scotland international put in impressive displays to keep Casemiro at bay. The Brazilian had only played the full 90 minutes in the Europa League until the game at Goodison.
However, the Dutch manager was criticised for not starting Casemiro against Manchester City. McTominay had difficulty coping in the middle of the park against the Sky Blues.

Casemiro had a shaky start, giving the ball away for Everton’s first goal. However, the Brazilian recovered well and was pivotal in the Red Devils keeping hold of the lead. Hopefully, the 30-year-old continues to show why the Old Trafford side paid the money they did to sign him from Madrid.
