Preston duo hail Manchester United loanee Alvaro Fernandez

Speaking in an interview after Preston’s 1-0 victory against West Brom as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Preston player-manager duo Emil Riis and Ryan Lowe have praised talented Manchester United loanee Alvaro Fernandez after his performance against West Bromwich Albion.

The Spanish U-19 provided the match-winning assist in the game and was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ for his performance in the game against Steve Bruce and co. Fernandez was one of Preston’s best players on that day and his performance has not gone unnoticed by his teammates.

A player who joined Man United from Real Madrid in 2020, Fernandez has been very highly regarded during his time with the Red Devils academy. He is expected to have a huge future in the game and could have a future in a United shirt.

The 19-year-old defensive starlet was loaned out to Preston from Man United for the entirety of the current campaign as he looks to get regular minutes under his belt and improve his game before he returns next season.

Speaking about his performance against West Brom Riis and Lowe were full of praise for the Spanish teenage sensation.

“It was a great cross and he’s a brilliant player. He just needs to keep going.”

“I said get yourself in the right areas and you’ll find the net because we’ve got good players like Alvaro who can put balls on a plate for you, and he certainly did that tonight”

Alvaro Fernandez promises to be an exciting player

Fernandez has a contract with Man United until 2024 (transfermarkt). The Red Devils will want to tie him down to a new long-term deal before Spanish giants start circling the player and try to snatch him away from us.

The 19-year-old has already won two caps for the Spain U-19 team. It is only a matter of time before he progresses through the ranks and there is no doubt that he could be a permanent fixture for La Roja in the future.

Man United have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the ranks but the former has fallen out of favour due to poor form and a string of injuries. If the Red Devils choose to ship Shaw out, they can bank on Alvaro to provide backup to Malacia.

The Red Devils need to handle Fernandez’s development well and make sure he gets sufficient game time to hone his game. If the early promise is anything to go by, then Man United have a special player on their hands.
