Omonia Nicosia striker Loizos Loizou raves about manager Neil Lennon before tie against Manchester United
Manchester United have been warned by Omonia Nicosia striker Loizos Loizou about manager Neil Lennon. The Red Devils take on the team from Cyprus in the third group stage tie of the Europa League.
Former Celtic head coach Lennon manages Omonia. The Northern Irish football coach had two successful spells with the Bhoys when he was at the helm of the Glasgow-based team.
Now, Lennon is the manager of Omonia. And speaking to the PA News Agency ahead of the fixture against United (h/t Manchester Evening News), Loizou raves about the pedigree the Northern Irish head coach possesses.
“Yes, he can make it [the difference]. He always tells us we are not scared of anyone – but we still have to be at our best levels.
“In his career as a coach he won a lot of trophies and titles. He knows how to win these titles.”
Lennon had an extensive playing career before stepping into management. The Northern Irish midfielder represented the likes of Manchester City, Leicester City and Celtic. However, it was with the Bhoys that he lifted the most silverware.
The former Northern Ireland international retired as a player in 2009. In 2010, Lennon took over as manager of Celtic. He managed the Bhoys during two spells, 2010-2016 and 2019-2021.
Lennon has won five Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic as manager. The Northern Irish head coach also won four Scottish Cups and a Scottish League Cup with the Bhoys during his time in Glasgow.
Taking over Omonia in 2022, Lennon already has a Cypriot Cup to his name. They currently sit fourth in their first division.
United face Omonia after a disappointing result against Manchester City. The Red Devils lost 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both got hat tricks. Antony and Anthony Elanga were on the scoresheet for us.
