Chelsea manager Graham Potter coy when asked about Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo
Graham Potter was pressed about Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo recently. However, the Chelsea manager was coy when giving his thoughts on the 37-year-old’s situation with the Red Devils.
Ronaldo wanted a move away from United in the recent transfer window. And the Stamford Bridge side were one of the potential suitors. However, the Portugal international stayed in Manchester.
Then Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was reluctant about Ronaldo moving to the West London club. Subsequently, the German left the Blues. And the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is again linked with a move away in January.
Potter was appointed Chelsea manager from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Englishman has taken charge of the Stamford Bridge side that seemingly do not have a lot of options upfront.
Chelsea are once again being touted as a potential destination for Ronaldo. The Portugal international has not been afforded much game time in Manchester this season.
And when Potter was asked about Ronaldo’s situation, the Chelsea manager decided not to give an opinion on the matter. Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, the English head coach gave a diplomatic answer.
“We can spend all day asking these questions and I am not going to speak about anyone else. I’ve got respect for anyone you mention or anyone that anyone else mentions, but if they’re not our players I don’t speak about them.”
Erik ten Hag has preferred other options in his attack to the former Real Madrid star. Marcus Rashford has played in the number nine position ahead of Ronaldo. When the England international was subbed off against Manchester City, Anthony Martial replaced him.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been relegated to a role on the bench in the 2022/23 campaign. He has not started a Premier League game since the 4-0 loss to Brentford on matchday two.

Ronaldo is not in the best of forms, either. The Portuguese has scored one goal for the Red Devils this season. If his situation remains the same come January, whether the 37-year-old will decide to move remains to be seen.
