Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot at AS Roma
According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Mirror), AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign talented Portuguese right-back Diogo Dalot from Manchester United amidst uncertainty about his contract.
Dalot was, in fact, a player that Jose Mourinho signed when he was still the Red Devils manager but the Portuguese tactician was shown the door just a few months later which meant that the duo did not get much time to work together.
The talented young full-back was a part of the youth academy of Porto and came up through the ranks at the Liga Nos giants. His performances there impressed the Red Devils who decided to take a punt and sign the player.
Ever since he came to Manchester, Dalot’s time has been considerably mixed. After an initial few seasons that he spent in the wilderness, except for the loan move to Milan which actually went well, the 23-year-old is gaining prominence at Old Trafford in the last season and a half.
Dalot eventually established himself as the starting right-back under Ralf Ragnick for the second half of last season. The Portuguese international appears to have done enough to convince Erik ten Hag to retain him in the starting XI.
Dalot has featured eight times for the Red Devils this season, starting on all those occasions and even managing to provide two assists during this period. Even in the recent international match for Portugal, Dalot managed to score a brace.
The 23-year-old has a contract with the Manchester club until 2023.(transfermarkt) It means that the Portuguese international could be a free agent come the end of the season but the club do have an option to extend it by one further year.
Mourinho rated Dalot very highly when he signed him for us. With the contract situation not appearing very favourable, there is a chance that our former manager will look to snatch the Portuguese defender from us.

This season is very crucial for Dalot. He has started off pretty well and if he can continue on the same note, then there is no reason why Man United must not renew the talented player.
