Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford unlikely to feature for Manchester United against Manchester City due to injury
Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are expected to miss the derby against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on 2 October due to injury, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t Metro]. The English and French forwards have been sidelined in recent weeks.
Before the game against the Sky Blues, Martial is not expected to return to training. However, there was hope for the France international’s club teammate Rashford to play against the Cityzens. But the 24-year-old has also not returned to training yet.
Martial has missed most of the season due to a couple of fitness issues. First, the 26-year-old was initially put out of action due to a hamstring strain. And then, the France international suffered an Achilles injury.

The former AS Monaco star has featured in just one game in the 2022/23 campaign against Liverpool. The Frenchman came on as a substitute at the start of the second half and helped the side to a 2-1 victory in the North West derby.
On the other hand, Rashford has played a significant part this season. However, the England international has been out of action since the 3-1 win over Arsenal.
Rashford got on the score sheet twice. The 24-year-old was also the one who provided the pass for Antony to score the first goal of the fixture on his debut.

Unfortunately, Rashford ended up picking up a muscle strain against the Gunners. And the 24-year-old has not featured for the side in the Europa League yet.
