Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Manchester United ‘possible’ next summer transfer window
Manchester United have been touted as a ‘possible destination’ for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer of 2023, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Serbian is contracted to the Italian outfit till 2024. And Milinkovic-Savic is set to meet the hierarchy of Lazio, who he has an ‘excellent relationship’ with, at the end of the month to discuss his future.
Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with the Red Devils for a number of years. However, a move to Old Trafford for the Serbian has never come to fruition.
In the previous campaign, Milinkovic-Savic featured 47 times for Lazio in all competitions. The Serbian contributed with 11 goals and 12 assists and apart from his brilliant contributions in goals and assists, he puts in an impressive shift when his side are defending.
The 27-year-old has once again been pivotal for Maurizio Sarri’s side this season. In nine appearances in all competitions, the midfielder has registered two goals and five assists.
Milinkovic-Savic is currently with the Serbian national team on international duty. The Eagles are set to face Sweden and Norway in the UEFA Nations League before meeting up once again in Qatar.
United signed two midfielders in the summer of 2022. Erik ten Hag was given the signings of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to bolster the engine room. And the two have added to the squad in their own way.
The Danish national has been an essential player for the Red Devils. Eriksen has started every game under the Dutch manager. And the arrival of the former Real Madrid number six has seemingly brought the best out of Scott McTominay.
