Barcelona are trying to push through a move for Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid amidst interest from Manchester United. The Blaugrana are looking to finalise a deal worth £22 million for the 2018 World Cup winner, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun).
Griezmann rejoined Los Rojiblancos on loan from Barcelona last summer. Atletico would need to pay the Catalan giants £35 million for the France international if he were to play 50 per cent of the game time during his spell in Madrid.
However, Diego Simeone’s side have deployed Griezmann only after the hour mark in the 2022/23 campaign. The France international has had to settle for a place on the bench this season.
Griezmann has featured in every game for Atletico this season. In eight appearances, the 31-year-old has scored three goals and provided an assist. However, the France international has started just once for Los Colchoneros, and that was against Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old has been annoyed by his situation. And this is where the Red Devils come in. Erik ten Hag is planning to make a move for the France international in the January transfer window in case there is no change with regards to the forward’s game time.
Barcelona are looking to cut their losses and settle on a much lower fee with Atletico. The Blaugrana want the deal to be finalised before 7 January.
United have seemingly been looking to bolster their forward line. In the recent transfer window, the Red Devils made just one signing up front. Antony reunited with Ten Hag in Manchester.
Fans would still like for the attack to have more bite. Griezmann is someone who has made a name for himself over the years. While the French national has not been in the best of form recently, he still has a lot of quality. Whether United land the 31-year-old remains to be seen.

A good World Cup with France can further raise his stock as well. Griezmann most recently started in France’s 2-0 UEFA Nations League win against Austria at the Stade de France.
