Former Ajax manager Aad de Mos tips Manchester United to be in the race for midfielder Kenneth Taylor
Manchester United have been tipped to be in the race for Ajax youngster Kenneth Taylor by Aad de Mos. The former Dutch manager believes the 20-year-old will be one to look out for during the Qatar World Cup.
Taylor came up through the youth ranks at the Amsterdam-based club. The 20-year-old made a few appearances for Erik ten Hag’s former team last season. However, the Dutch national has broken into the side under new manager Alfred Schreuder.
Speaking to VoetbalNieuws via SoccerNews.nl (h/t Express), De Mos, who managed Ajax between 1982 and 1985, raved about Taylor. The Dutch manager predicts the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and United to get the midfielder in the future.
“He will be the revelation of the Oranje at the World Cup. He is already one of the best players on the field at Ajax.
“He will stay for another year after this, then it will be Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United.”
Taylor has made 10 appearances for the Eredivisie champions in the 2022/23 campaign in all competitions. The 20-year-old has played in the centre of the midfield for Ajax and has contributed with three goals and two assists.
Ten Hag gave Taylor his debut in the 2020/21 season. The 20-year-old came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute as Ajax beat PEC Zwolle 4-0 in the Eredivisie.
United saw several departures from the engine room in the summer of 2022. The likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, who had played a pivotal role in the team over the years, left for free.
The Red Devils dipped into the market and got two midfielders in the recent transfer window. Christian Eriksen arrived on a free transfer. And the Danish national has made himself a permanent future in the side, playing in the number eight position.
United bolstered the middle of the park with the addition of Casemiro. The Brazilian has arrived from Real Madrid with a huge pedigree after Man United signed two players from Ten Hag’s former team – Antony and Lisandro Martinez.
