SL Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos sees increase in price tag following interest from Manchester United
Manchester United target Goncalo Ramos sees an increase in his price tag following interest from several clubs to acquire the centre-forward from SL Benfica, according to A Bola (h/t Manchester Evening News).
A deal in the recent summer transfer window would have been possible for €40 million. However, following his impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign, the Eagles will want more for the Portuguese.
The Red Devils are just one of the sides interested in signing Ramos. The 21-year-old has also been called to the recent Portugal squad. Fernando Santos’ team will face the Czech Republic and Spain in the upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Ramos has come up through the youth ranks at Benfica. The 21-year-old broke into the Lisbon-based club’s squad last season. And in the 2022/23 campaign, the Portuguese forward has featured in 12 games in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.
United were seemingly after a number nine in the recent summer window. Cristiano Ronaldo looked to be on his way out of the club. The 37-year-old was United’s top goalscorer in the previous campaign.
In the end, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has ended up staying for the time being. However, the club still need to plan for a future without Ronaldo at some point.
The other number nine at Ten Hag’s disposal is Anthony Martial. However, the 26-year-old has been on the sidelines mostly. The French attacker has featured only once this season. The Dutch manager has backed Marcus Rashford to play in the centre-forward position.
United got one forward in the recent transfer window. Antony arrived at the Old Trafford side from Ajax. The Manchester-based club paid a hefty price tag to secure the Brazilian’s signature.
