Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo states desire to play Euro 2024 with the Portuguese national team

Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he is not done yet. The Manchester United superstar has his sights set on Euro 2024. The 37-year-old wants to be part of the Portugal national team for a couple more years.

Ronaldo will be 39 by the time the next European Championship rolls by. However, the Portuguese legend has no intentions of hanging up his boots any time soon.

Speaking to Goal (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ronaldo reiterated that he still has a lot of football in him. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is raring to take part in the World Cup and further tournaments, including the Euros 2024.

Ronaldo reached the final of the competition in 2004 but lost to Greece on home soil. He finally got his hands on the trophy in the 2016 edition when the Portuguese national team beat France 1-0 in extra-time of the final.

“It has been a long road, but I would like to take the opportunity to say that my road is not over yet.

“I feel motivated, my ambition is high. I am in the selection with a lot of young players and I want to be part of this World Cup and the 2024 Euros as well, I assume now.”

Ronaldo returned to United last summer. His homecoming was received with much fan excitement. And the 37-year-old did not fail to deliver.

The Portuguese ended the previous campaign as our top goalscorer. In 38 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 24 goals.

However, at the end of the season, United ended in sixth place in the Premier League. Apart from Ronaldo, none of our other forwards were able to make a considerable impact. And we failed to make the Champions League for the 2022/23 campaign.

Ronaldo was angling for a move away from United this summer. However, the 37-year-old ended up staying in Manchester at the end of the recent transfer window.

Under Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo has had to settle for a role on the bench in the opening weeks of the season. The Portuguese has started just one game for the Red Devils in the PL. The 37-year-old has only one goal and opened his account for the campaign against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.

Someone like Ronaldo will evidently not be happy about sitting on the bench. While Ronaldo has expressed his desire to continue playing for years to come, it remains to be seen whether that will be at United.
