Borussia Dortmund set record-breaking €150 million price tag on Manchester United target Jude Bellingham
Manchester United will have to part ways with €150 million to buy Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
The Bundesliga giants have placed a hefty price tag on the 19-year-old. United have been linked with the England international for a while now. And the former Birmingham City youngster was close to moving to Manchester in 2020 before deciding to join Dortmund.
It remains to be seen if United meet the German outfit’s demand for Bellingham. However, if the Red Devils were to pay the price, it would make the English teenager the most expensive British player of all time.
Bellingham has developed into a quality midfielder over the years. The England international has been a key member of the BVB side over the last couple of years.
In the previous campaign, Bellingham played 44 games in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants. The 19-year-old contributed with six goals and 14 assists.
This season under Edin Terzic, Bellingham has played every minute of every game for Dortmund. His performances have been lauded. Fans especially raved about his display against Manchester City in the Champions League group stage recently. He scored a goal in the 2-1 defeat against the Sky Blues.
United signed a couple of midfielders in the recent transfer window. Christian Eriksen arrived on a free transfer. The Danish national has surpassed the expectations supporters had from him.
Casemiro also arrived to bolster the middle of the park. The Brazilian has built up a reputation of being one of the best defensive midfielders over the years. The 30-year-old won multiple Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
