Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United being linked with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe ‘makes little sense’
Manchester United are not in any talks with Kylian Mbappe at the moment. The Red Devils were recently linked with the Paris Saint-Germain superstar. However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has rubbished the claims.
Mbappe extended his contract this summer with the Ligue 1 outfit. However, it was revealed that the 23-year-old could leave for free in 2024. And United were supposedly keeping tabs on the 2018 World Cup winner.
Speaking on CaughtOffside (h/t Express), Romano disclosed that there is nothing between United and Mbappe. With the PSG forward recently putting pen to paper, it does not make sense for the France international to be talking to other clubs.
“Honestly, at the moment, there is nothing between Manchester United and Kylian Mbappe.
“Mbappe has only recently extended his contract with PSG, so I think it makes little sense to discuss any club at the moment, including Manchester United.”
Mbappe is one of the best players in the world. The 23-year-old will evidently have many potential suitors if he were to leave PSG.
However, United could do with someone of the Frenchman’s abilities. Goalscoring has seemingly been an issue for the Red Devils. In the previous campaign, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes hit double figures for goals in all competitions.
Mbappe has regularly been on the top scoring over the last few years. In the previous campaign, the 23-year-old made 46 appearances for the Parisiens in all competitions. He scored 39 goals and provided 26 assists.
It is Mbappe’s speed and agility that make him a fearsome striker. The France international is capable of running in behind the best defences in world football.
While United’s attack has been impressive in the last few weeks under Ten Hag, the side’s last season’s top goalscorer has been on the bench for the majority of the fixtures. And it seems at the moment that Ronaldo’s future at the club is uncertain.

Supporters may think it is far-fetched to give the Red Devils a shot at signing Mbappe, considering our lack of success in recent times. However, United seemingly need a quality centre-forward, and the 23-year-old is one of the best out there.
