Luke Shaw has been unavailable for selection at Manchester United due to suffering a foot injury
Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has been unavailable for selection in recent games due to a foot injury, according to Manchester Evening News. However, it is believed to be minor and nothing serious.
The England international has not been included in two of the last three matchday squads. The 27-year-old was sidelined for the Leicester City game as well as against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Shaw was in contention to feature against La Real. However, he missed the training session before the game as United were beaten 1-0 by the Spanish opposition.
The 27-year-old has not played a single minute for the Red Devils since being substituted at half-time for Tyrell Malacia against Brentford. Shaw started the first two pictures of the 2022/23 campaign. However, he struggled against Brighton & Hove Albion and The Bees.
Our new signing from Feyenoord has played the full 90 minutes in every Premier League game since the North West derby. Malacia also started against Sociedad in Old Trafford.
Shaw’s injury record
Shaw joined United in the summer of 2014 from Southampton and has ever since struggled with injuries. He also suffered an unfortunate double leg break in September 2015, which ruled him out for the 2015/16 campaign. The former Saints left-back has missed around 151 games for the Red Devils.
The 27-year-old has had many ups and downs in his United career so far. Shaw had fallen out of favour at one point under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager evidently did not fancy the England international.
For now, Ten Hag seems to have found his preferred starting XI, with Malacia starting. United have gone on a four-game win streak since the Dutch manager made a host of big changes after the defeat to Brentford.
