Chelsea interested in swooping in for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on free transfer next summer
Chelsea are interested in a free transfer for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford next summer, according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica (h/t Express).
The 24-year-old United academy graduate has a contract with the Red Devils until 2023. Top European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have an eye on the England international.
The Blues have tipped their hat into the race for Rashford’s signature, with the new Chelsea owners not scared of his demands. However, it is going to be hard for any side to entice the 24-year-old away from his boyhood club.
Rashford is keen on extending his stay with the Manchester-based club. The England international and the club anticipate an agreement will be reached on a new contract.
United did not have the best of seasons in the previous campaign. The team finished sixth, outside the Champions League places. We ended the 2021/22 season with our lowest points tally in the Premier League era.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the only forward who lived up to the mark, ending the previous campaign as our top goalscorer. Rashford, on the other hand, had one of his worst spells in a red shirt.
In 32 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, the 24-year-old managed to find the back of the net just five times and gave two assists.
However, the 2022/23 season has seen a resurgent Rashford under Erik ten Hag. While we had a bad start to the campaign, the team have won four games on the bounce in the PL after losing the first two.

Rashford has been a key part of our success, contributing with important goals against Liverpool and Arsenal. Hopefully, United will tie him down to a long deal and fend off interest from other clubs, especially Chelsea, who are our direct rivals for the PL trophy and the top four spot.
