Transfer News: Everton sign Manchester United starlet James Garner

According to popular Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Premier League rivals Everton have signed talented Manchester United academy graduate James Garner from the Red Devils on deadline day on a permanent deal.

One of the most promising players to come out of the academy in recent years, Garner is tipped for the pinnacle of football. He has impressed in his short career till now but it looks like Manchester United don’t envision a future for him.

Predominantly a defensive midfielder, James Garner can also play in central midfield. He spent the last season out on loan at Nottingham Forest and was one of the club’s most impressive players in their promotion back to the top flight.

The 21-year-old played 49 times for Forest last season scoring four goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions. These numbers are really impressive for the player, especially considering that he played in defensive midfield.

Garner returned to Manchester United at the end of his loan spell and was expected to play a role in Erik ten Hag’s team. However, the club have chosen to move him on and move to Everton sounds like a good decision for the player.

Manchester United have a plethora of midfield options and it makes sense for Garner to move. The Red Devils have signed Casemiro this summer and Donny van de Beek has also returned to the club after his loan spell.

There is no doubt that Garner has what it takes to succeed at the highest level. He will get regular game time at Everton and playing under a manager like Frank Lampard who trusts youngsters could be very good for the talented Englishman.

Romano claims that Manchester United have a buy-back clause for the talented player and if Garner becomes the player that everyone expects him to be, there is no doubt that the Red Devils will want to trigger this clause.
