Owen Hargreaves makes Manchester United prediction after Antony signing
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves have heaped praise on Manchester United newboy, Antony who transferred from Ajax after the two clubs agreed on a €100million fee for the player.
Owen Hargreaves knows all about the pressure to play for a club as big as Manchester United having made 39 appearances for the club during the success-filled Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Football 365), Hargreaves said he has watched the player a lot of times and talks about his quality.
“This is a proper Brazilian player with flair, he will bring entertainment, goals and assists
“He’s obviously creative too. I think Man United fans are going to love him. They’ve paid a lot of money for him but I think he will be a fantastic signing.”
Ever since Erik Ten Hag has been appointed the manager of Manchester United, he has stressed acquiring the services of players who have played under him or against him as in the case of Tyrell Malacia.
The first half of the transfer window was taken up to secure the signing of Antony’s Ajax teammate Lisandro Martinez who, after a rocky start, has already established himself as an instrumental part of the team and won Manchester United’s Player of the Month for August.
The Frenkie De Jong saga also took up the majority of the transfer window and with it came the restriction of funds available for other players. Once it was made clear that a deal for the Barcelona man is challenging, it was actually impressive on our club’s part to swiftly shift the attention to Antony and secure his services before the end of the transfer window.
There is excitement within the United fanbase with the Antony signing and rightly so, most notably for the fact that the Brazilian showed his desire to come to Old Trafford.
This is a sudden shift from our signings under previous managers such as Alexis Sanchez, and Romelu Lukaku, who were more inclined towards the monetary benefits rather than playing for the badge.

During a time of transition for us, it is essential we bring in players who would give their all on the pitch to bring success to the club and Antony is definitely one of them reuniting with Erik Ten Hag, who for him is more than just a manager.
It is an exciting time to be a United fan and with three wins out of three plus the impact of new signings, things are looking up after a disastrous start to the season
