Erik ten Hag believes Jadon Sancho can get even better for Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lauded the potential Jadon Sancho has after the England international scored against Leicester City. The Dutch manager feels the 22-year-old can be even better for the Red Devils.

United visited the King Power Stadium to face the Foxe. Sancho scored the lone goal of the game in the 23rd minute. The England international took his goal brilliantly to slot it past Danny Ward.

Speaking after the win via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag is of the opinion that Sancho focused on the physical aspect of his game during pre-season and is now reaping the rewards.

“I think he had quite a good pre-season.

“He understands now he has to invest in the physical and that is what he did and now he can get the reward and that is what he has to bring. I’m sure it’s the start for him.”

United started the match against Leicester with the same XI that featured against Liverpool and Southampton. We won three games on the trot since the North West Derby.

Sancho has been involved from the start alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga. Cristiano Ronaldo has come off the bench in all three games, while Anthony Martial has only been available against Liverpool.

Sancho has put in a good performance over the last few fixtures. Ten Hag thinks the former Borussia Dortmund star still has a long way to go. And the manager has confidence in the abilities of the 22-year-old.

Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho struggled for form last season.

“With his potential, there’s much more room for improvement, he can be even more important and contribute with his creativity and scoring goals and assists. With the defending part, he can be even more important.

“Yes, I think he can (become a prolific goalscorer). He has the capabilities and he did it also in a different league, but this is Premier League, so the intensity is higher, so he has to adapt to that, mentally and physically. The capabilities are there, the skills.”

Sancho has already scored two goals so far in five Premier League games. The England international has looked much more comfortable. While the matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford were challenging, the 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength since then.

In the previous campaign, Sancho had three goals in 29 appearances in the PL for the Manchester-based club. The 22-year-old failed to replicate the form he had shown in the Bundesliga.

However, the England international appears to have found his groove this season. Hopefully, Sancho is able to continue his fine form for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign.
