Manchester United turn down Crystal Palace and West Ham United approaches for Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Manchester United have decided to keep Aaron Wan-Bissaka this transfer window. The Red Devils turned down approaches from Crystal Palace and West Ham United for the 24-year-old right-back, according to The Athletic (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Wan-Bissaka seems to have lost his place in the United XI and his future at the Manchester-based club was uncertain. However, now, the club have no intentions of letting the player go out on loan or a permanent transfer.
The transfer deadline day is just a few days away. United have Diogo Dalot and Wan-Bissaka in the squad. If the 24-year-old were to leave, the Red Devils would have to dip into the market for another right-back to provide competition to the Portuguese.
Wa-Bissaka has lost his place at United
Wan-Bissaka moved from Selhurst Park to Old Trafford in 2019. The 24-year-old was a regular in the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the arrival of Ralf Rangnick changed the England U21 international’s fortunes at United.
The former interim head coach preferred Dalot over Wan-Bissaka in the XI. The Portuguese evidently provides more attacking impetus to the side when he plays. On the other hand, the former Palace right-back has been criticised by fans for his lack of quality in the final third.
Wan-Bissaka featured just nine times for the Red Devils in Ralf Rangnick’s time in the Old Trafford dugout. The 24-year-old hasn’t been given a lot of game time and the trend has continued under Erik ten Hag’s reign.
The right-back played second fiddle to Dalot in the side during pre-season. And the start of the 2022/23 campaign has seen the England U21 international be seated on the bench mostly. Wan-Bissaka has only featured in the match against Liverpool for the final few minutes this season.
