Newcastle United have received a loan with buy option from Manchester United for Martin Dubravka
The Red Devils have included a clause for the option of a permanent transfer of £5 million after negotiations with the Toons. Newcastle are set to review the proposal and make a decision soon.
United have seemingly been after a shot-stopper. Dean Henderson left the club early in the summer transfer window on loan to Nottingham Forest. The 25-year-old was rarely given a chance last season.
Erik ten Hag used David de Gea and Tom Heaton during pre-season. However, it appears the management want another goalkeeper to challenge and back up the number one spot.
The friendlies saw the Red Devils play from out the back. The new gaffer has brought new ideas to the club. And the goalkeeper is evidently an important part of this system.
However, the start of the 2022/23 campaign got off to a shaky start. While the whole team was poor from back to front, Dea Gea came under the spotlight. The Spaniard looked uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.
In Ten Hag’s second competitive game for the Old Trafford side at the Gtech Community Stadium, De Gea made a couple of errors leading to goals. The Manchester-based club conceded four goals in the first half.
Fans pointed fingers at our number one shot-stopper. There’s no doubt about the 31-year-old’s ability in between the sticks. The Liverpool game was evidence of the Spaniard’s quality. However, his distribution leaves a lot to be desired.

If De Gea were to be indisposed this season, the only other option at Ten Hag’s disposal is Heaton. It would be wise to add someone like Dubravka to the squad.
